The iSAQB has released its new Advanced Level module, Collaborative Software Modelling (COSMO). It is the 22nd CPSA-Advanced Level module in the Advanced Level portfolio. The curriculum is available in English and German.
Software architecture is not created by architects alone. Developers, operations, product people, domain experts, and other stakeholders all contribute important perspectives. Yet bringing these perspectives together is one of the hardest parts of architecture work.
And AI doesn’t make this problem disappear. In fact, as AI speeds up implementation, the ability to collaborate, understand a domain, and make architectural decisions together becomes even more important. COSMO focuses on exactly these skills.
Participants learn concrete, practical techniques for collaborative architecture work that they can apply immediately in their own environment. Well-known approaches such as Event Storming and Domain Storytelling are part of this toolbox.
The module covers:
- The foundations of collaborative architecture work
- Experiencing and reflecting on collaboration and facilitation
- Techniques for making collaborative sessions successful
- Advanced collaborative modeling
- Facilitation and creating impact as a facilitator
This is deliberately not a training where you sit and listen to presentations for three days. Exercises and practical examples are central. You will try out techniques, reflect on what happened, and learn how to apply them to real architectural challenges.
The goal is not simply to know Event Storming or another modeling technique.
The goal is to become better at getting people with different perspectives to understand each other, explore a problem together, and make architectural decisions.
Participants should have a basic understanding of software architecture. The training lasts at least three days. Upon successful completion, participants receive 10 Credit Points in the methodological competence area and 20 Credit Points in the communicative competence area. These Credit Points can be applied toward the Certified Professional for Software Architecture – Advanced Level (CPSA-A) certification.
